Baldur’s Gate 3 players have always been fond of Astarion’s clever remarks, but a controversial pseudonym in the Dark Urge plotline has caused many to reconsider their romantic preferences entirely.
Despite being a beloved character to many, Astarion continues to spark heated debates as a result of his morally ambiguous nature and the option for players to ascend him in Act 3, transforming him into a toxic nightmare. This transformation only adds to his popularity as a romanceable character in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Despite already dealing with a power-hungry vampire boyfriend, players who choose the Dark Urge storyline are now faced with an additional absurd predicament: Astarion’s latest pet name for them.
The origin of Dark Urge provides players the opportunity to fully embody their inner villain; however, no one could have predicted Astarion’s endearing nickname: “Bhaal babe.”

On Reddit, players of Baldur’s Gate 3 found this both amusing and unsettling. Many encouraged the original poster to dismiss Astarion after being given such a nickname.
“One commenter suggested, “I need you to remain at the camp for a little while.”Another added, “Just…just retreat to your tent and reflect on your actions.”
In response to such an insult from your partner, one clever player jokingly remarked, “kicks him in the bhaals,”as there seemed to be no other appropriate reaction.
Players were also quick to catch onto Shadowheart’s clear disapproval, as her expression seemed to be yelling, “Did I understand that correctly?”This sentiment appeared to resonate with many players. At this point, it seems that nothing can surpass this vampire’s iconic use of “darling,”so it may be best for him to continue with that.
In addition to the chaos caused by the Dark Urge, Patch 7 has also introduced new cutscenes for evil endings. However, much to the disappointment of fans, it has confirmed what many were afraid of – Alfira, the beloved bard, will not be staying as a permanent companion.
