A newlywed bride gained widespread attention after revealing how her chosen botanical venue deceived her by concealing their plants with netting on her wedding day.
Micaela, known as ‘mhopee’ on TikTok, used the social media platform to reveal the unexpected challenge she faced the day before her wedding.
Micaela and her fiancé were surprised to find a strange sight during their rehearsal dinner at the botanical garden they had chosen as their wedding venue. The plants that were supposed to be the backdrop for their ceremony were unexpectedly draped in white netting.
Upon first assuming it to be a temporary protective measure, Micaela was shocked to discover from her wedding coordinator that the netting would be staying in place throughout the next day. The coordinator explained that the plants needed time to acclimate to their new environment.
@mhopee Catfished by my venue with no apology… story time is on my profile LOL #fyp #weddingfail #weddingtiktok #2024bride #wtf #whatwouldyoudo #catfish #thisiswhatiwanted #thisiswhatigot #storytime
Despite requesting to have the netting removed for a brief period of time during their ceremony or cocktail hour, Micaela and her husband were informed by the venue that there was no possibility of accommodating their request.
Micaela shared on TikTok that she had been catfished by her venue and received no apology. She showcased photos of how the gardens were advertised to her compared to the actual wedding photos on the day.
Indeed, just as expected, there were a number of plants adorned in white behind the radiant bride and groom. Observers commented that the bundled foliage gave off a “crime scene”vibe.
Micaela shared details about the event in a “story-time TikTok”, explaining that she was initially “devastated”and had stayed up until 11 PM the night before trying to resolve the situation with her coordinator.
@mhopee Wedding venue story time!!!!! #fyp #weddingtiktok #weddingstory #wtf #wtfmoments #whatwouldyoudo #2024bride #weddingvenue
“While my ceremony didn’t turn out exactly as I had envisioned, it still ended up being a beautiful day. The reception space was gorgeous and I was happy with how everything turned out,”Micaela reflected, although she did mention that her wedding coordinator had some issues with her.
The story left viewers in shock, as one individual noted, “People actually have their weddings at a botanical garden BECAUSE OF THE PLANTS.”
One commenter suggested that as soon as they made the decision to install nets, the venue should have contacted all the brides who had weddings scheduled and worked together to come up with a new plan or offer refunds. They described the situation as “insane”.
