Some fans of Bridgerton Season 3 have expressed disappointment over certain storyline details, such as the exclusion of Penelope and Lady Danbury’s developing friendship from the books.
Despite the anticipation for Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2, some fans have expressed concern about whether there will be enough time to delve into the bond between Penelope and Lady Danbury. Some have even felt disappointed that their relationship may not follow the same path as depicted in the Romancing Mr. Bridgerton novel.
One X/Twitter user posted a tweet saying, “I’ve been robbed,”alongside promo videos of Lady Danbury and Penelope reading Lady Whistledown.

Lady Danbury’s unwavering support for Penelope is the primary reason behind her bold reveal as Lady Whistledown. Danbury’s praise for Penelope and the positive reception from society further solidifies her decision to come forward.
Despite the undeniable importance of this friendship in the book, fans have speculated that it may be excluded in Part 2 for a particular reason.
“According to one fan, the reason the Penelope and Lady Danbury friendship was not shown in this season is because it would have meant that their first child would have been Agatha. This would have conflicted with the show’s intention of establishing Polin as the parents of the male Featherington heir.”
In the literature, Penelope and Colin’s eldest offspring is a girl. Penelope greatly admires Lady Danbury and thus decides to name her daughter Agatha. However, based on the direction of Bridgerton Season 3, it appears that the plot is shifting towards highlighting a potential male successor.
“One fan commented that the absence of interactions between Lady Danbury and Penelope leads them to believe that Thomas Bridgerton will be introduced instead.”
Another person also expressed, “I completely agree, Colin embodies the characteristics of a girl dad so much that I can’t handle it any longer. Lady Danbury, you should start speaking to Penelope immediately and Agatha needs to return home.”
Another person stated, “I already tweeted about this! I don’t think they will suddenly try to include it in the final episodes. If it was planned, they would have hinted at it by now, but they haven’t. It’s a complete letdown!”
The first half of the season heavily focuses on the pressure for Penelope’s sisters to produce a male heir in order to secure their home and newfound wealth. With a shorter episode count in the second half, it is possible that the plot may shift to Penelope and Colin taking on the responsibility of producing a male heir while her sisters have daughters.
Bridgerton fans can mark their calendars for June 13, 2024, when Season 3 Part 2 will be available to stream on Netflix. Be sure to catch up on the latest news and discussions about Francesca’s potential asexuality and the challenges of writing Penelope and Colin’s love story.
