It has been two years since we last witnessed a true Bridgerton romance. The first half of season three, which premiered on Netflix on May 16, 2024, focuses on Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) in the Regency era.
As predicted, the initial four episodes are filled with drama, passion, rumors, and love—but what comes next?
If you have already watched all of part one of season three and are craving more (especially after that cliffhanger ending), don’t worry, you won’t have to wait another two years for the next installment.
When does Bridgerton season 3 part 2 come out?
Part 2, which will consist of four episodes, is scheduled to debut on June 13 at 3 A.M. EST, just a few weeks following the release of part 1 on May 16. The season finale, episode 8, will also be included in part 2.
2. What can we expect from Bridgerton season 3 part 2?
The repercussions of the Whistledown drama fall upon Penelope’s doorstep. According to showrunner Jess Brownell in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the first part of season 3 will exude “pure rom-com vibes,”while the second part will introduce “a completely different realm.”
Brownell emphasized that the unresolved issue of Penelope’s Whistledown secret and Eloise’s unawareness of the couple’s mutual feelings would create a significant increase in tension in the latter half.
Francesca Bridgerton’s romance with the reserved yet charming John Kilmartin, Queen Charlotte’s determination to outdo Whistledown, Violet Bridgerton’s attraction to a certain individual’s younger sibling, Cressida Cowper’s reluctance to marry an older man, Benedict Bridgerton’s passionate affair with Lady Tilley Arnold, and the potential reunion of Kate and Anthony in Mayfair all add to the excitement of the upcoming events.
3. What was the reason behind Netflix’s decision to split season 3 into two parts?
Perhaps the executives were just feeling silly and playful. As Brownell explained to TODAY.com, Netflix came to us after we completed the season and suggested splitting it up. This means that season 3 was not initially planned to be divided into two parts.
However, Brownell pointed out that the transition would occur during a “natural break”in the season after the first four episodes, minimizing any potential disruption.
Before being divided in half for season 3, Bridgerton was released on Netflix in two-part segments, along with other shows such as Stranger Things, You, and The Crown.
By releasing episodes at different times, the streamer can take advantage of the sustained buzz created by these highly-anticipated programs. This allows Netflix to combine their traditional binge-watching approach with the opportunity for weekly discussions. Even Whistledown would likely approve.
4. Conclusion of Bridgerton Season 3 Part 1
Despite being an excellent observer, Penelope Featherington, who is constantly gathering gossip for Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers, surprisingly missed the signs in the final episode of Bridgerton season 3 part 1. It was clear to everyone except her that Colin Bridgerton was hopelessly in love with her and was on his knees for her.
In the fourth episode, Colin Bridgerton has to swallow his pride and confess his feelings to Miss Featherston. They then share a memorable carriage ride home before Colin unexpectedly proposes to his longtime friend and confidante. Penelope is overjoyed and taken aback by the sudden proposal.
Despite this being everything she had ever hoped for, there was one aspect she couldn’t shake off – her hidden secrets from him over the years. She feared that if he were to discover them, he would detest her and cancel the ceremony. It was not an ideal way to begin a marriage.
As season 3, part 2 approaches, the stakes are high as it marks the first time Bridgerton has released its episodes in two parts.
