Despite having more than 13 years of experience as a professional climber, Louis Davis, also known as the “British Spider-Man,”was arrested for scaling the Eiffel Tower without any safety equipment.
On Sunday, August 11, Louis Davis, also known as the “British Spider-Man,”replicated one of Tom Cruise’s famous stunts by climbing the Eiffel Tower just before the Olympics’ closing ceremony.
Despite his training as a stunt coordinator and professional climber, as well as his experience in the entertainment industry, Louis was not authorized to climb on the iron girders, especially without proper safety equipment such as a harness or rope.
Despite the boldness of his stunt, Louis was arrested after descending from standing on top of the blue Olympic ring.
The stuntman remarked that it was awfully warm as the police led him away.
Currently, Louis is at risk of serving a one-year sentence in prison for “putting others in danger.”Additionally, he will be required to pay a fine exceeding $16K.
@dailymail Louis Davis was arrested on the second floor of Paris’ most famous landmark and is facing jailtime. It’s the climber’s latest arrest following his last adventure when he scaled London’s famous ‘Cheesegrater’ building. However this time, it’s been confirmed by French authorities that he’ll face a charge of ‘endangering the lives of others’ – an offence that comes with a one-year prison sentence, and a fine equivalent to around $16340 (£12,800). Now there are fears that Paris prosecutors could push for a harsh sentence after police were forced to divert vital resources to his arrest and Eiffel Tower evacuations on the day of the Olympics closing ceremony.
Due to the evacuation of the perimeter of the Eiffel Tower during his climb, he may receive a stricter punishment as the area was even more congested due to the Olympics.
According to an investigative source, the individual was arrested and handcuffed by police at 2.45pm. While he was making his way to the second floor, he was halted by specialist climbing police. He is currently cooperating with authorities.
Although this isn’t his initial feat, the “British Spider-Man”has previously scaled the “Cheesegrater”building in London.
He has collaborated directly with both Tom Cruise from Mission Impossible and Arnold Schwarzenegger from The Terminator.
Louis clarified his mission during his professional climbing journey on his official website.
He expressed his belief that fear is the main obstacle to personal growth and explained that his goal is to assist individuals in conquering their fears, developing resilience, and unleashing their full potential.
In addition, he shared his personal journey, mentioning that he has been a rope access supervisor for over 13 years, working in high-risk situations, and currently pursuing a career as a professional climber. He is renowned for his free solo climbs on skyscrapers.
Thankfully, Louis managed to safely descend on two feet despite being arrested. However, French daredevil Remi Lucidi did not have the same fate. In July 2023, he tragically fell to his death while attempting to climb a 721 ft skyscraper.
