On the 10th (local time), Billboard announced that BTS has been featured in their list of ‘21st Century’s Greatest Pop Stars.’ They explained, “They have elevated K-pop to a global level” and “Set high standards for hit-making in pop music over the past decade.”
BTS stands as the only K-pop group included in this prestigious list. Billboard emphasized, “They have broken the barriers that restricted boy bands, K-pop, and Korean artists” and “Achieved Beatles-level success, creating a new blueprint for all pop music.”
Billboard highlighted the members’ musical talent and performance skills, along with their dedicated fanbase, ARMY, as significant contributors to BTS’s success. They particularly noted ARMY’s role in “strengthening solidarity across various communities beyond age, race, and religion.” Furthermore, they stated, “No other group can match BTS’s achievements this century” and “They have truly opened a new path.”
Billboard has been unveiling their list of the 25 most important and influential pop stars of the 21st century, revealing two names per week since last month. Previous entries include Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne, One Direction, Bad Bunny, Ed Sheeran, and Katy Perry, who held the 20th to 25th spots.
