On the 13th, V shared a nostalgic post on Instagram, commemorating the first anniversary of his solo album “Layover,” which was released in September of the previous year. In his post, V mentioned, “My memory is jumbled, but happy 1st anniversary of ‘Layover’ to myself,” and included an album photo shoot from that time. While V appears to celebrate this milestone, many K-pop fans and ARMYs speculate that the message carries a deeper significance.
Fans noted that the executive producer of “Layover” was Min Hee-jin, the former ADOR CEO, leading to interpretations that V might be showing indirect support for her.
Another BTS member, Jungkook, has also made headlines by expressing his support for NewJeans, a group that recently expressed dissatisfaction with management at HYBE.
On the 14th, Jungkook posted a photo of his pet dog, “Jeon Bam,” on the pet’s Instagram account, captioning it with “Artists are not guilty.” He incorporated emoticons that reflect the “Powerpuff Girls” theme colors, which represent Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein of NewJeans.
Jungkook’s supportive gesture towards NewJeans was captured in his Instagram post, showcasing his solidarity.
The visible support from BTS members V and Jungkook for Min Hee-jin and NewJeans is significant as it marks the first time that HYBE-affiliated artists have publicly rallied behind one another in such a visible manner. Given that BTS is synonymous with HYBE, this support is poised to have a substantial impact.
On the 11th, NewJeans disclosed during a YouTube live broadcast about their experiences of unfair treatment, including ostracism, within the HYBE organization. They also made an official request for Min Hee-jin’s reinstatement as CEO by the 25th.
In response to the backing from NewJeans, Min Hee-jin has initiated legal proceedings aiming for her reinstatement as CEO. On the 13th, her legal team from Sejong Law Firm announced that “Min Hee-jin has filed a provisional injunction at the Seoul Central District Court to convene an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting and restore her position as an inside director of ADOR.”
Conversely, HYBE and ADOR have stated, “The ADOR board of directors’ decision to replace the CEO was within its authority,” further adding that “The board can replace the CEO at any time based on its management judgment.”
