J-Hope’s latest purchase has garnered him headlines.
On June 20, TenAsia, a Korean news outlet, published an exclusive report revealing that J-Hope had recently bought a penthouse in the upscale Afer Hangang neighborhood of Yongsan, Seoul.
According to reports, the property is considered a two-story unit measuring a total of 273.86 square meters, which is equivalent to approximately 2,948 square feet. It has been confirmed that J-Hope had chosen the unit in 2020, but the ownership was not officially transferred until June 10.
According to the report, J-Hope purchased the duplex with full payment and it was valued at approximately ₩12.0 billion won (KRW), which was equivalent to $8.69 million dollars (USD).
Afer Hangang is a recently developed residential area located near Yongsan Park, providing its residents with beautiful views of the park and Han River. According to reports, the neighborhood has 26 units, with exclusive spaces ranging from 205.64 to 274.94 square meters.
Similarly, other notable figures such as Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Han Hyo Joo, Soo Ae, Ryu Deok Hwan, and professional soccer player Kim Ki Hee have also been known to make purchases in the same area.
The news eventually made its way to a popular online forum, where many netizens were surprised. Some admired J-Hope’s extravagant purchase, while others raised concerns about his privacy being compromised and the public disclosure of the acquisition.

- “What a good life.”
- “The listing price is 12 billion won, but since he’s a celebrity, he probably got a celebrity discount and didn’t pay the full amount.”
- “J-Hope is an amazing person, so I just want to congratulate him on his new home.”
- “I’ve seen many celebrities living in places worth much more than that, so 12 billion won seems relatively modest in comparison. I’m looking forward to seeing his promotions.”
- “Wow, impressive. But I’m kind of worried at how they are disclosing where his house is like that.”
- “I wish that people would stop disclosing this kind of information. These real estate agents.”
- “People are really calling this ‘modest’ wow.”
- “Even 100 million is a lot of money to me so 12 billion is just wow. I can’t even fathom it.”
- “Wow, I can’t even dream of 12 billion won.”
- “Honestly, I wished the government banned real estate and media from disclosing idols’ residence info. They already suffer enough from crazy fans.”
Fans of the ARMY also took to the social media platform X (Twitter) to express their reactions:

Congratulations Hoseok! You have worked hard for every single KRW. Coming from Gwangju, taking dance lessons even when your family couldn’t afford them. Practicing all night (until 4am) and then going to school. Your PASSION has paid off!I’m so proud of you! 🥹Always be happy,… https://t.co/6cSNzRZAsx pic.twitter.com/OcnUnH8VtD
