BTS member Suga apologizes for drunk driving and promises to cooperate with police investigation

The police have announced that Suga will be making an appearance at the Seoul Yongsan Police Station this afternoon after completing his public service work. This comes 17 days after the initial controversy surrounding his alleged drunk driving was first brought to light.

The police intend to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the drunk driving incident and also look into any related charges.

On the evening of August 23, BTS member Suga arrived at the Yongsan Police Station to assist with the investigation of a recent drunk driving accusation. He humbly bowed his head and expressed his regret to the press, stating, “I would like to sincerely apologize for my actions. I deeply regret disappointing my fans and others. I will fully cooperate with the investigation. Please accept my sincerest apologies.”

According to a recent update, it was reported that Suga was scheduled to make an appearance at the Yongsan Police Station on August 22nd. However, this information was later found to be incorrect. In a routine press conference on August 19th, the police confirmed that Suga would undergo private questioning without a photo line.

On August 6th, Suga was involved in an incident in the Yongsan district where he fell off an electric scooter while driving under the influence.

The police came across Suga after he had fallen and observed that he was intoxicated. They immediately administered a breathalyzer test, leading to his booking the next day for violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).

Suga’s team initially claimed that he had consumed alcohol at a dinner prior to riding an electric kickboard back to his home. However, after reviewing CCTV footage, it was discovered that Suga had been operating an electric scooter, resulting in the release of a second apology.

Despite Suga’s insistence that he had only consumed a single beer, his blood alcohol content was tested at 0.227%, a significantly high level of intoxication that far surpasses the legal limit for license revocation of 0.08%.

As the police questioning approaches, there is anticipation for whether Suga will provide a more thorough account of the incident.

Currently, Suga has been fulfilling his duties as a public service worker since September of last year and is anticipated to be released from service in June of next year.
