BTS Member Suga Remains Quiet When Confronted by Reporters at Police Station

At 7:47 p.m. on August 23 (KST), Suga arrived at Yongsan Police Station in Seoul, dressed in a white t-shirt and black suit. He expressed his apologies to reporters, stating, “I deeply regret disappointing so many people. I am willing to fully cooperate with the investigation and offer my sincerest apologies once again.”

Upon concluding his prepared remarks, he refused to answer questions from reporters, including, “Why did you not cooperate with the investigation immediately after being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol?”and proceeded to enter the police station.

Suga was accused of breaking the Road Traffic Act after operating an electric scooter while under the influence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul at 11:15 p.m. on the 6th (KST). At the time, Suga’s blood alcohol level was 0.227%, which was higher than the 0.08% limit for license revocation.

When news of Suga’s case was reported, his agency HYBE posted an apology. However, it was later revealed that the information provided in the apology was not entirely accurate, causing controversy. For instance, it was stated that Suga’s mode of transportation was a kickboard, but it was actually a scooter. Additionally, he was heavily intoxicated, contrary to the initial claim that he had only consumed one glass of beer. Furthermore, it was reported that he fell while parking at the front door, but it was later discovered that he actually fell while driving on the sidewalk. Lastly, while he claimed to have received a driver’s license revocation and fine, the investigation is still ongoing and no follow-up measures have been taken yet.
