The latest announcement from HYBE has caused quite a stir among netizens, leaving numerous fans of BTS feeling disheartened, especially those who are dedicated to RM, the leader of the group.
RM’s most recent solo album, “Right Place, Wrong Person,”has been released to great acclaim. The album features a poignant selection of tracks that have deeply connected with his fans. To build excitement for the album, RM has been sharing music videos that were filmed before his enlistment, further fueling the anticipation for his solo projects.
Despite the initial excitement, the situation quickly shifted when HYBE, the company responsible for managing BTS, hinted at the launch of merchandise connected to RM’s solo project.
On May 28, a preview of the merchandise collection was released by the HYBE MERCH X account, showcasing a range of products such as mugs, pillows, apparel, and other items.

not to be that person but i find truly disgusting how every merch of their art since they enlisted lacks any true connection to the original pieces! it’s not worth your money let’s keep up the boycott!! https://t.co/RwhI7tcALH

Merch is probably the only aspect of RPWP that Hybe had a majority say in and of course they screwed up. Such an innovative album deserves far cooler merch. Honestly all we would’ve needed are a buch of those cute little mini joon figures from LOST! https://t.co/9riVPu6tSQ

Can Hybe just give the Merch design business to ARMYs…This one is by an ARMY…Cos they arent even trying anymore, its more like the mass produced things that anyone can print on…The ones you KNOW Tannies pitched in for idea, were cool as hell.. They were unique…Now… pic.twitter.com/vl3LEHGfwK

Despite being a loyal fan, one person expressed disappointment, stating, “It’s clear that HYBE has not prioritized creating quality products for their fans. The only aspect they seemed to have put effort into was the merchandise, but even that fell short.”
Throughout its history, HYBE has faced criticism for its merchandise releases on multiple occasions. Other artists, including SEVENTEEN, have also been met with backlash from fans for their merchandise announcements.
The dissatisfaction among supporters highlights the significance of genuine interaction and top-notch products in fan culture. Many are urging HYBE to reevaluate its method of producing merchandise and ensure that it aligns with the artistic integrity of its artists.
