On the night of the 29th, during a live session on critic Kim Young Dae’s YouTube channel, Min opened up about her close bond with BTS member V.
Min shared that V often reaches out to her, even while he is serving in the military. She expressed, “V is doing incredibly well. He has always been such a ray of sunshine, and during my hard times, he would cheerfully check in, asking, ‘You’re alright, right?’”
Furthermore, she disclosed that V sent her a heartfelt birthday message while on active duty.
Min stated, “I was deeply moved when he texted me at dawn to wish me a happy birthday. His heart is truly kind, which is why he has the ability to do such thoughtful things.”
During the broadcast, Min reminisced about a comment V made during a press conference last April. She recalled, “V mentioned something like, ‘I’m worried because you’re about to show your true self to the world without holding back.’ Though I restrained myself as much as possible, even if I was tempted to unleash my frustrations, I only said what was necessary.”
Min elaborated, “I spoke from a place of reason at that moment. I’m not one to memorize scripts; I simply voiced my thoughts as they came, recounting my experiences in chronological order. Many speculated, ‘Who wrote that script for her?’ but even my lawyer was unaware of my intentions to say those things.”
In the meantime, a discussion titled “BTS’s V’s solo album seems to be overlooked by Big Hit (HYBE)” has been gaining traction on the Korean forum theqoo.
This discussion highlighted that despite V’s solo album, “Layover,” having sold over 250,000 copies in Japan since its release last year, it only achieved a RIAJ Gold Certification in 2024.
To earn this certification, the label must submit an application, and unlike two other BTS members who received their certifications promptly after surpassing the same sales figures, V’s recognition was delayed.
Additionally, a minor controversy arose among BTS supporters, who noticed that updates to album cover photos and sales pages for the members’ solo music on the official BTS US website were made, except for V’s work.
Moreover, the banner on the BTS US shop listing 10 songs in order of their release does not feature “Layover,” even though it is among the latest tracks, leading to speculation that HYBE is intentionally sidelining V’s project.
Compounding this issue is the fact that V’s “Layover” was produced by Min Hee-jin, who is reportedly in the midst of a significant dispute with HYBE and has recently been removed from her position as CEO of ADOR, the agency behind NewJeans.
This controversy suggests that HYBE’s ongoing conflict with Min Hee-jin is leading to a lack of support for V’s album.
Here are some reactions from netizens:
- I’m really frustrated to see this, but I wonder how much more painful it is for V himself. HYBE is truly unraveling.
- It seems like V is more overlooked than the other members… Is it really due to HYBE’s dispute with Min Hee-jin?
- Seriously, why are they treating V this way? He is one of their own artists.
- Bang Si-hyuk must hold a deep grudge against Min Hee-jin.
- HYBE is going too far. I hope V can move on to better things after this.
- Is this how the agency treats V? That’s genuinely shocking…
