A topic regarding the chart success of Jimin’s song “Who”from BTS was recently posted on the Korean forum “theqoo”and gained considerable attention.
Despite achieving over 400,000 streams on Spotify’s daily chart in Japan on July 27 and 28, 2024, “Who”did not experience similar success on other streaming platforms such as Apple Music, as mentioned in the topic.
Despite its success on Spotify Japan, the song did not make the Top 100 on Apple Music and Amazon Music, which is a unique occurrence in the history of Japanese charts.
Despite achieving a significant number of streams on Spotify Global, Jimin falls short of reaching 15 million monthly listeners. Typically, an artist with the same amount of streams as Jimin would have a monthly listener count of 65-80 million.
Similarly, Jimin’s song “Who”reached the top spot on the Spotify Korea chart but did not have the same success on any domestic streaming platforms in Korea.
Despite reaching No.2 on Spotify in the US, “Who”failed to chart on other prominent American platforms such as Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music.
These factors all contribute to suspicions of BTS member Jimin’s song being involved in illegal activities or chart manipulation.
Shown below are a few remarks made by internet users:
- Seems like HYBE is facing a tough times thansk to Suga
- The charts are indeed odd. However, we don’t know if it’s because of the fandom or because of HYBE’s manipulation
- Sigh… One member faces a scandal and the rest are being dragged
- Why is it only Spotify… I wonder if it’s because of international fans
- It seems more like Jimin has a lot of international fans who stream for him on Spotify rather than chart manipulation
