On July 14th (local time) at approximately 8 p.m., Jin from BTS made an appearance in front of his fans at the torch relay center within the Louvre Museum in France.
Early in the morning, a crowd of fans had gathered in front of the Louvre Museum to witness Jin participate in the torch relay. They proudly displayed the Korean flag emblazoned with Jin’s name, ‘Kim Seok-jin’, and eagerly awaited the appearance of the beloved male idol to cheer him on.
Jin flashed a shy smile and eagerly waved at the fans who had gathered to welcome him. With the assistance of the police, Jin received the torch and made his way back to the Louvre Museum. Carrying the torch in his hand, he sprinted for approximately 200 meters.
Additionally, a few fans joined Jin on his route. Luckily, the strict security provided by the police prevented any incidents from happening.
Following the torch relay, Jin released a message video through his agency HYBE.
In the video, he expressed his gratitude for being able to take part in the torch relay and stated, “I am deeply honored.”He also sincerely thanked ARMYs and all his fans for giving him the opportunity to carry the torch.
It has been reported that Jin’s involvement in the torch relay was due to his connection with Samsung Electronics, the designated sponsor of the Olympics. Since 2020, BTS has been endorsing Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Series and Galaxy Fold smartphones.
The Paris Olympics torch, which began its journey in Marseille in southern France in May, has made its way through Paris and the provinces until the 15th (local time). It will then make its way back to Paris for the opening ceremony on the 26th.
Thierry Henry, a retired French soccer player, and Lang Lang, a renowned Chinese pianist, will also be among the torchbearers in downtown Paris.
