On August 13th, BTS’s YouTube channel ‘BANGTAN TV’ released a video titled “[Run Jin] EP.1 | Climbing Mt. Hallasan 5 Days After Discharge…”
Jin woke up early in the morning at a hotel on Jeju Island, put on a hiking suit, and got ready to hike up Hallasan Mountain.
Jin stated, “It has been 5 days since I was discharged and I am planning to climb Hallasan Mountain.”He added, “This is a personal goal I have always aspired to achieve, not just for leisure.”He further expressed, “I will have fun photoshoots in the future, but today is all about determination. Your beauty lies in your effort. I am determined to give my best during this hike. Fighting!”With that, he began his ascent of Hallasan Mountain. The total distance to the destination was over 9km and the estimated round trip time was 9 hours.
Jin explained that her initial intention was to complete whatever she began. Whether it was playing tennis or hiking, she would see it through until the end. However, she ended up immediately diving into hiking without hesitation.
Despite completing 100 meters of hiking, Jin began to express his fatigue and complained about it. During a rest stop, he decided to call Baek Jong-won and engage in a quiz, and also treated himself to an ice americano. As they continued climbing, Jin took on the challenge of making people say ‘Congratulations on your military discharge’. He shared his difficulties in approaching people in a friendly manner, especially as an introvert, stating that it was not an easy task.
After 4 hours and 20 minutes, Jin finally reached the top. Overjoyed by his success, he exclaimed, “I can’t believe I made it to Baeknokdam in just 5 days since my discharge!”He added, “Wow, I did it!”This was the perfect opportunity for Jin to build his strength before resuming his activities post-discharge.
As they descended the mountain, Jin’s remarkable endurance as an elite soldier was on full display. The camera crew struggled to keep pace with him, causing Jin to pause in the middle and wait for them.
Jin, with trembling legs, shared his confession while descending Hallasan Mountain, saying, “If you’re seeking a transformative experience, I highly recommend this journey.”He also mentioned, “I think Jungkook would benefit from this course, but I won’t accompany him.”After successfully completing his mission, Jin finally got to indulge in his long-awaited cold raw fish soup. Overjoyed, he exclaimed, “This is amazing! I couldn’t be happier. True happiness is within reach.”He added, “With the completion of my first day of filming, ‘Run Jin’ will continue to push me with more challenges as I climb Hallasan Mountain.”
At present, Jin is the sole BTS member to have completed his military service and he is preparing to debut his new variety show, “Run Jin,”on the group’s YouTube channel. This solo project will showcase Jin taking on different challenges with the determination to prove that he can do anything, as a way to express his gratitude for the unwavering support of ARMYs.
