On August 31st (KST), BTS’s Jin participated in Japan’s renowned charity program “24-Hour TV,” which is showcased annually on Nihon TV (NTV).
During the “I Love Everyone’s Zoo” segment, where NTV’s popular programs contribute, Jin, known as the “visual king,” collaborated with Japan’s top idol Arashi’s Aiba to bathe and groom rescued dogs. A full version of the episode, featuring Jin, aired on September 7th.
The filming occurred when the “I Love Everyone’s Zoo” team visited Korea. Throughout the broadcast, Jin displayed his characteristic bright and cheerful spirit as he eagerly volunteered to care for the rescued dogs. His chemistry with Aiba and the dogs attracted a tremendous global response.
When asked about his motivation, Jin stated, “I chose to do this for the same reason. If I show this side of myself, even those who may not have had much interest might think, ‘Maybe I should try volunteering for rescued dogs too.’” His kind-hearted nature was clear in his remarks.
He further expressed humility, mentioning, “I’m a very successful idol. I believe it is because of the fans’ love that I’m able to be in this position and participate in programs like this.”
Following the preview of Jin’s appearance on August 17th, “I Love Everyone’s Zoo” skyrocketed to the top of the search rankings on Yahoo Japan, the country’s largest portal site, while “Jin-kun” surged in popularity on X (formerly Twitter) and Tsuiran Japan. This year’s charity broadcast of “24-Hour TV” achieved a viewership rating of 12.5%, an increase of 1.2% from the previous year.
Jin has been personally fostering rescued dogs for 12 years since childhood. He emotionally connected with fans through his self-composed song “This Night,” expressing his feelings about his late pet. He has also demonstrated his commitment to animal welfare by purchasing and donating supplies to shelters for rescued dogs. This has sparked ongoing donations and volunteer efforts for rescued dogs and other animals from his fans.
Recently, Rainbow Shelter, a haven for rescued dogs, revealed via Instagram that Jin and Aiba had volunteered with them. They noted that even though Jin had allergies, he took medication in advance to ensure he could participate fully in the volunteer work.
Rainbow Shelter expressed their gratitude, stating that Jin’s sincerity was apparent throughout the day, as he tirelessly cared for the rescued dogs and cleaned the shelter without showing any signs of fatigue, despite the heat. They also highlighted that Jin and Aiba actively inquired about the stories of the rescued dogs during their visit, showcasing their genuine interest.
Moreover, it was reported via Instagram by the production company Studio Modak that on the final filming day on Ulleungdo for the Netflix variety show “Kian’s Bizarre B&B,” Jin astonished the entire staff of 110 individuals by gifting them high-quality squid sets at his own expense. A staff member shared a photo, exclaiming, “This is the first time I have received a gift from a cast member during filming, and the fact that it came from the superstar ‘Jin’ is amazing!”
In addition, after filming for the MBC variety show “It’s a relief if you rest well,” Jin discreetly covered the expense for a gathering’s meal, a thoughtful gesture revealed by the show’s producer, Kim Myung-jin.
