During the Victory Unit Soldiers’ Day event, held by the 15th Infantry Division of the Republic of Korea Army in Hwacheon County, Gangwon Province on the evening of August 2nd, RM took the stage and delighted the audience with a 20-minute saxophone performance.
RM donned a top labeled “15th Division Military Band” and a cap displaying his rank as he joined a rehearsal before the main performance at the 2024 Hwacheon Tomato Festival. The unexpected sight of him taking the stage in his full military band uniform only heightened the festival’s excitement.
After witnessing RM’s performance during the rehearsal, a representative from Hwacheon County expressed their surprise and raised expectations for the festival. It is likely that both tourists and residents in attendance had an unforgettable experience.
Two months ago, RM’s exceptional saxophone abilities were put on display for the first time. On June 12th, he joined his fellow BTS members in commemorating the discharge of Jin, the oldest member of the group who had completed his mandatory military service at the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province. At the event, RM captivated the audience by playing the group’s popular song “Dynamite”on his saxophone, garnering much attention.
Last month, RM marked the one-year anniversary of shaving his head by posting a series of throwback selfies on his personal social media accounts, reaching out to ARMY (BTS’s fan base) around the globe.
RM, who joined the military on December 11th, 2023, is anticipated to be released from service on June 10th, 2025.
