The recently introduced Diablo 4 Pets were designed to accompany players and collect loot, but gamers have observed that they are causing issues with Necromancer builds.
The new Diablo 4 pets can be obtained by either preordering Vessel of Hatred or completing a quest in-game to claim one for free. However, players who have done so as Necromancers have noticed that their new companion is causing destruction wherever they go.
The main problem arises from the fact that Pets are being treated as Minions. This situation has both positive and negative effects, as pets provide a buff for players who use minion builds, but act as a major disadvantage for players who use non-minion builds.
For minion build Necromancers, there is some good news. If you are using the Deathspeaker’s Pendant, the Pet will grant you an additional Blood Surge explosion, and when using Kalan’s Edict, it will boost your attack speed. This is particularly significant since Pets are immortal.
Your new furry friend may be breaking your Necromancer build.
Conversely, the Pet nullifies any bonus granted by the Sacrificial Paragon Glyph and causes you to forfeit damage reduction while utilizing the Stand Alone passive.
Depending on the type of build being used, this could be seen as either positive or negative. Regardless, players are requesting a solution as it is causing complications for carefully crafted builds.
“It’s surprising to me that pets are still considered minions, despite the fact that it seems like such an obvious issue to address. This sentiment was shared by ‘fitsu’ on Reddit, as they commented on the matter.”
The developers of Diablo 4 have not yet addressed whether or not this was intentional, however, we will continue to provide updates on any changes that may occur in future updates.
Alternatively, you can stay informed about the additional preorder perks available with Vessel of Hatred.
