Diablo 4’s newest Spiritborn class has captured the spotlight since the release of the Vessel of Hatred expansion. However, as we approach Season 7, it appears that the Druid might reclaim its dominant status.
The introduction of the Spiritborn class in the Vessel of Hatred expansion marked a significant shift for Diablo 4 players, as it offered a formidable reimagining of the face of the Witch Doctor from Diablo 3. During Season 6, countless players took advantage of certain overwhelmingly powerful Spiritborn builds, resulting in a gameplay experience that was highly enjoyable.
In an unexpected twist, Blizzard opted not to nerf the Spiritborn class, allowing players to fully enjoy its capabilities throughout Season 6. Nonetheless, they did caution that such dominance wouldn’t last, leaving many to speculate that Season 7 would aim to restore balance. Enter the Diablo 4 Season 7 Public Test Realm (PTR), where a notable shift has already occurred.
Druid Dominates in Season 7
During the Season 7 PTR, prominent Diablo streamer Rob2628 showcased a powerful Druid build that managed to unleash damage figures soaring to nearly 9.3 quintillion. This remarkable performance has left Spiritborn builds in the dust.
Rob2628 shared his astonishing achievement on his X (formerly Twitter) account, stating:
This is the Druid in #DiabloIV Season 7 PTR. From dealing 17 damage to negative 9.3 Quintillion😎 Even beating the mighty Spiritborn right now! pic.twitter.com/WZJS7lpHx2

Introducing the Boulderstorm Druid Build
The build demonstrated by Rob2628, known as the Boulderstorm Druid, is an evolved version of the classic Boulder build. Given its current performance, this build is expected to be a formidable contender in the Season 7 meta as the PTR wraps up.
Utilizing a strategic combination of the Druid’s Boulder and Lightning Storm abilities, players embracing this build will likely maximize their potential. However, it should be noted that those selecting alternative builds will still benefit from enhancements made to the Druid class in Season 7.
This is important to remember, though: the current state of the PTR may not reflect the final adjustments from Blizzard. The developers, while initially allowing the Spiritborn class to shine, are unlikely to permit an excessively overpowered Druid build to disrupt the game’s balance when Season 7 launches in January 2005.
On a positive note, Druid players can anticipate a season where they take center stage, potentially bringing new dimensions to gameplay and strategy.
