Bungie Addresses Destiny 2’s Exotic Mission Exploit and Receives Backlash from Players

Bungie has released an update for Destiny 2 that has addressed various issues in the sandbox, including the removal of an exploit that Guardians have been utilizing to their advantage since its discovery.

By exploiting game mechanics, players were able to acquire two Exotic class items instead of the intended one upon completing The Final Shape’s Dual Destiny mission. This bug allowed for more efficient farming of desired rolls from the two-person mission, going against Bungie’s original intentions.

Despite the closure of the loophole, numerous individuals have expressed their dissatisfaction on Reddit, stating that the intended rate of acquisition is not worth the effort due to being too low.

“One response expressed disappointment in the fact that the mission was not intended to be replayed after the initial completion. They suggested that the developers could have made the mission more rewarding by having it consistently drop two Exotics per run instead of requiring a glitch. This would have made the time investment for running the mission more worthwhile.”

Solipsism – the Warlock Exotic class item

Some players have expressed their disappointment with the amount of time needed to obtain specific rolls, with one individual stating: “Despite having completed 50 runs and acquiring 77 rolls, I still haven’t obtained Liar and Caliban. I think I’ll have to call it quits as I am feeling burned out. The number of duplicate spirits is overwhelming.”

One person proposed that instead of fixing the exploit, Bungie could have incorporated it as a legitimate feature. They felt that the double Exotic class item should not have been patched, but rather could have been implemented as a feature for playing with someone of the same class. Alternatively, the drop rate in chests could have been enhanced to compensate for the removal of the exploit.

It should be noted that Bungie’s solution does not impact the alternative way of obtaining Exotic class items. After completing Dual Destiny for the first time, players can still farm for additional rolls by opening chests in The Final Shape’s Pale Heart Patrol Zone.

There are more than 60 unique Exotic class items for each class, and some are superior to others.
