Bungie rapidly tweaks Destiny 2’s new Onslaught mode to prevent early exits

In order to prevent players from leaving after wave 20, Destiny 2 has implemented a series of modifications and incentives for the recently introduced Onslaught mode in Into The Light.

The Onslaught mode in Destiny 2, implemented in the Into The Light update, has undergone modifications to deter players from quitting the game before reaching wave 20. These updates now offer greater incentives for players to persist beyond the 20th wave, including two additional rewards and an increased number of Trophies of Bravery.

In Onslaught, Guardians are tasked with defending an objective against increasingly powerful enemies in a wave-based horde mode. The standard playlist version of the mode consists of 10 waves, while a separate mode allows players to continue up to 50 waves and earn greater rewards.

It has been discovered by guardians that the rewards for the 50-wave version become less valuable after wave 20. As a result, many guardians have been leaving the run halfway through, which negatively affects the experience for others. Fortunately, Bungie is planning to introduce new rewards that will hopefully encourage players to stay until the end.

Bungie is now providing the opportunity for Guardians to receive up to two extra weapons if they continue playing until wave 50. The first weapon will have a chance to drop randomly during the waves, and the drop rate will increase with each successful wave completion (ensured at wave 50). Additionally, another weapon will be rewarded upon completion of the 50th wave.

Bungie is also raising the quantity of Trophies of Bravery that players can obtain in the higher stages of Onslaught. These can then be exchanged at the Hall of Heroes chest for a randomly selected weapon.

These updates are scheduled to be implemented in the next week, so players should make sure to stick with their Fireteam in the near future.
