Bungie, the developer of Destiny 2, has cautioned players against manipulating their internet connection while trying to defeat the formidable raid boss, the Witness, on their own.
Despite our victories against the Witness in the campaign, raid, and 12-man Excision activity, nothing could compare to the ultimate triumph of The Final Shape: defeating the Witness entirely on our own, with only the most skilled Guardians rising to the challenge.
Since then, numerous individuals have attempted to emulate their actions by streaming and sharing their own efforts on the internet. However, one Guardian in particular has caused some controversy within the community, leading the developers to publicly caution the player for their actions.

During their attempt to solo the Witness, popular Destiny 2 streamer Leopard demonstrated a unique method they had uncovered. By deliberately slowing down their internet connection using a VPN, players can break up to three Glyphs on the Witness, drastically reducing the time needed for DPS phases.
This practice, commonly referred to as net limiting within the community, is actually a violation of Bungie’s terms of service.
Therefore, the developers referred to the post in order to caution Leopard that such actions will result in punishment.
“Hello everyone, we would like to give a heads up. This action violates our Terms of Service,”the developers clarified. “While we understand the desire to tackle difficult content alone, any attempts to manipulate the network for an unfair advantage in PvE or PvP may result in restrictions or bans. We strongly discourage this behavior.”
Despite the undeniable skill of Guardians, challenges such as soloing the Witness continue to pose a formidable objective, especially with Bungie’s strict enforcement making it nearly impossible to achieve.
Despite facing numerous challenges, one remarkable achievement by Bungie was regaining the trust and support of the community with the conclusion of the Light and Dark saga. The Final Shape in Destiny 2 proved to be a major triumph for Bungie’s looter shooter, as it effectively tied together storylines that were introduced almost ten years ago. The developers did an exceptional job in bringing everything to a satisfying conclusion, and it was well-received by Guardians worldwide.
