Burger King releases new Dr Pepper ice-cream floats – but not everywhere

Featuring a one-of-a-kind combination of 23 secret flavors, Dr Pepper boasts an incomparable taste that is nearly unmatched. And now, Burger King is elevating this beverage even further by incorporating ice cream into the mix.

Yes, you heard correctly, a large serving of Dr Pepper paired with Burger King’s signature vanilla ice cream. Regrettably, this delicious combination can only be found in Burger King Japan and is not currently sold in US locations.

The newly released drink is available for purchase in the country for 270 yen, equivalent to approximately $1.77 USD.

Contrary to the popularity of Dr Pepper in the US, it may come as a surprise that Japanese customers are not as fond of the drink. As reported by Sora News, a news outlet that frequently covers Japanese fast food releases:

“In general, Japan is not as obsessed with cola as the U.S. and tends to prefer the more straightforwardly sweet options of Coke and Pepsi. Due to its complex flavor profile, Dr Pepper is often perceived as having a “medicine-y”taste by those who are not fans in Japan.”

Nonetheless, a few individuals expressed their support for the new float by leaving positive comments on Twitter and in the section below the announcement.

“On the first try, the drink may seem average. However, by the second attempt, you begin to understand its appeal. By the third time, you develop a strong liking for it.”

“Another person added that the concept of a Dr Pepper float seems delightfully wicked.”

It has become a popular trend this summer to add ice cream to sodas, with Burger King being just one of many establishments to offer floats on their menus. In fact, McDonald’s Orange Cream Pop Shake was influenced by a TikTok trend and boasts a delicious combination of creamy vanilla soft serve and the refreshing taste of an orange cream pop.
