Bwipo Criticizes LEC Professionals as ‘Paycheck Stealers’ in Controversial Statement

Bwipo has been a controversial figure on stream recently, calling out numerous LEC professionals and criticizing their lackluster performances, claiming they are merely cashing in paychecks and harming the region with their “mediocre” play.

Although he has not participated in the LEC for some time, Bwipo was part of one of the greatest Fnatic rosters in history before transitioning to North America, where he has finally secured an LCS championship this year. It’s fair to state that he is among the top players in the Western scene based on his achievements.

During his livestreamed boot camp for Worlds 2024, he directly challenged several European players, labeling many as “mediocre” and suggesting they are “stealing paychecks” by remaining within their teams.

Specifically, he called out solo laners who have played alongside Hylissang on Vitality over the last few years, including Chasy, Photon, and Vetheo.

“I love Hyli so much, man. I think he’s a fantastic player, a world-class talent. His f**king solo laners, honestly… F**k you. How dare you not even attempt to take responsibility when you are so f**king bad at the game. Sure, you can lane, but that’s where it ends. You should be grateful for the paychecks you’ve received over the years as you are so sh** at the game. Replace either of them with me, and Vitality would qualify for playoffs and Worlds in an instant,” Bwipo stated.

He expressed that Vitality failed to utilize Hylissang’s strengths effectively as a player and became emotional while discussing this matter.

“[Vetheo] has been existing off other people’s merits, just farming creeps in silence, contributing nothing, and carrying nothing,” he remarked.

Bwipo further stated that Vetheo’s comparison to Gen.G mid laner Chovy was “pathetic,” believing that the French mid laner, similar to many other European players, was merely coasting along.

“I’m airing out dirty laundry, I don’t care. I’m providing examples because players need to be exposed for their actions. You shouldn’t have to doubt a teammate who has consistently shown to be the better player than you for four years straight. What more evidence do you need?” he rhetorically questioned.

“Honestly, as a competitor, if someone better than you is competing in the same league and mocks you and your team repeatedly, and you don’t trust their insights? Who do you think you are? It pains me that [Hylissang] lacked teammates to tell him this, because I always did. That’s why I have no qualms about stating this publicly; it is necessary,” Bwipo said.

Bwipo also expressed his belief that the LEC isn’t the only region displaying such issues; he feels that a similar mentality has impacted North America as the LCS has even poorer international outcomes than Europe.

“In the LCS, NA might be heading towards… potentially hitting rock bottom soon because of sh** like this, and players like this. I can’t condone that,” he asserted.

However, Vitality is not the only team he believes is allowing players to stagnate without improvement.

“Everything about Europe is commendable except for the professional players who are blatantly boosted, fail to recognize it, and act as if they aren’t. Those individuals? F**k those people,” he declared, accusing them of being “paycheck stealers,” as the FlyQuest top laner highlighted.

“This is genuinely how I feel. These players earn hundreds of thousands of euros annually to be f**king mediocre. Suck my fat ding dong.”

His criticisms did not stop there. Bwipo also stated that Nemesis is the only mid laner Europe has ever had who can rival Caps from Fnatic, arguing that Humanoid is outright inferior.

He also confronted GIANTX mid laner Jackies directly, later offering an apology for the manner in which he addressed the player; however, he did not retract his statements.
