Recap of episode 1 of Bye Bye, Earth
The episode opens with Belle Lablac embarking on a journey to Lake Chaser in order to eliminate a seed that had drifted in from the ocean. The Negroni had blossomed and released toxins into the lake, transforming it into a saltwater body. After successfully defeating the Negroni using her trusty sword, Runding, Belle returns home and informs her mentor, Sian Lablac, who is an Enola, or teacher, of her accomplishment.
Belle confides in Sian after dinner, sharing her struggles as an outsider among the anthropomorphic people who fear her due to her Featureless appearance. She expresses her loneliness and the difficulty of not being able to fully integrate into their society. She worries about the consequences of living in isolation, fearing that she may eventually be captured by the Army of Insatiable Emptiness, a group of individuals who have lost their ability to appreciate the beauty of the world.
Sian proposes the idea of traveling to Park City and participating in trials to join the nomadic lifestyle. Her ultimate goal is to venture out and discover her own world. However, at night, she is haunted by memories of her difficult childhood and the circumstances that led to her meeting her friend Runding.
In the morning, when Sian learns that she is ready to embrace a nomadic lifestyle, he explains to her that she must accept a final lesson in the form of a curse. Sian curses Belle, declaring that she will spend her entire life dedicated to achieving her goal of uncovering her past. However, once the curse is placed, Sian fades from Belle’s memories as she no longer requires them to remember her master’s teachings.
The episode concludes with Sian reassuring a heartbroken Belle that she will eventually understand the significance of Erehwon inscribed on her sword, as it symbolizes a perfect and ideal world.

In the upcoming episode 2 of Bye Bye, Earth titled “Wherefore in the Earthshine,”Belle embarks on a quest to uncover her origins and find others like herself.
