After the successful conclusion of tvN’s “Lovely Runner”, Byeon Woo-seok’s round interview took place on May 30th at a café on Nonhyeon-ro in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
A series of interviews, known as a round interview, was conducted with several media outlets at the same time. Byeon Woo-seok’s interviews were spread out over two days and divided into five sessions, taking place from 10 AM to 3 PM on May 29th and 30th.
The drama “Lovely Runner”on tvN tells the story of Ryu Seon-jae (Byeon Woo-seok), a well-known idol who passed away in an alleged suicide, leaving behind his passionate fan Im Sol (Kim Hye-yoon) in a state of distress. However, fate takes a turn when Im Sol is unexpectedly given the opportunity to travel back in time and change the course of events, ultimately saving both Seon-jae and herself. The drama concluded on May 28th.
Byeon Woo-seok played the role of Ryu Seon-jae in the drama, depicting the character at various stages of his life. From a passionate 19-year-old student to a fresh 20-year-old university student and finally a successful 34-year-old top star, he skillfully portrayed the different facets of youth and earned much praise for his acting.
Prior to the formal interview, Byeon Woo-seok exuded his captivating warmth, impressing viewers nationwide. He arrived with a blue umbrella, reminiscent of the iconic umbrella scene in the film “Temptation of Wolves” , and a single yellow flower. In the drama, the blue represents Ryu Seon-jae while the yellow represents Im Sol.
During the interview, Byeon Woo-seok expressed his gratitude for the reporters’ attendance by handing out prepared gifts to each of them. He answered every question sincerely and thoughtfully, occasionally taking a moment to think further and even mimicking lines from the drama to demonstrate his enthusiasm, if his initial answers were brief.
Despite the interview being over, Byeon Woo-seok’s gentle demeanor persisted. In round interviews, there is usually a 10-minute break between sessions. For example, if the first session starts at 10 AM and ends at 10:50 AM, the next session begins at 11 AM after a 10-minute break. However, Byeon Woo-seok took a 20-minute break between sessions, which allowed for a more comfortable and laid-back interview experience.
During his initial press conference following the conclusion of a beloved drama, he made sure to convey as much as possible. Throughout the event, he expressed gratitude towards the journalists he conversed with and signed personalized cards that he had prepared beforehand.
Even after being informed about his positive reputation among film and drama industry professionals, he modestly responded with, “I will continue to strive even more diligently in the future.”
