Byun Woo-seok, controversy over excessive security “Flashlights targeting ordinary people”

On July 12th, Byun Woo-seok took off from Incheon International Airport and headed to Hong Kong for a fan meeting.

Donning a backwards baseball cap, Byun Woo-seok effortlessly combined a stadium jacket with black jeans. His understated yet refined fashion sense, coupled with his striking good looks and tall stature, immediately drew attention.

Some fans who witnessed Byun Woo-seok at the airport shared their encounters, while others expressed their disapproval of the intense protection provided by his bodyguards. This was brought to light by a netizen who questioned the likelihood of Seon-jae (Byun Woo-seok’s character) coincidentally appearing while they were at the airport with their parents.

Despite wearing a hat and mask to make himself less recognizable, Byun Woo-seok was still easily noticeable as he entered the airport lounge surrounded by bodyguards due to his towering height of nearly 190cm.

Despite recognizing Byun Woo-seok, some citizens refrained from approaching him or insisting on taking photos. Instead, they watched or took pictures from a distance. Suddenly, the bodyguards began using flashlights.

As a result, a dispute arose regarding the level of protection provided. Although Byun Woo-seok was not at fault, the use of flashlights in a public area, causing disturbance to other passengers who were trying to rest in the lounge, received backlash.

As the video went viral on social media and online forums, viewers expressed their opinions, stating “This is excessive,””It’s unnecessary,””What if someone gets hurt from the flash?””Many people may not recognize him,”and “Is it appropriate to use flash photography on ordinary individuals like that?”

In the meantime, Byun Woo-seok has gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Ryu Seon-jae in the tvN drama “Lovely Runner”that airs on Mondays and Tuesdays.
