On July 14th, an official from the security company responsible for Byun Woo-seok stated to JTBC Entertainment News that fans had followed them to the airport lounge, resulting in overcrowding. As a solution, in collaboration with the airport security team, they conducted a ticket check in front of the escalator before allowing entry to the lounge. This was not a mandatory check, as the security team does not possess the authority to do so.
They persisted, stating that there were individuals who were not subjected to checks, and some of them expressed their dissatisfaction to the airport security personnel. Apart from that, they affirmed that everything had gone smoothly without any problems. Nevertheless, there appear to be some misinterpretations that still need to be addressed.
The security company addressed the criticism surrounding the 10-minute blockage of the gate by Byun Woo-seok’s security team, stating that it was necessary to prevent potential accidents due to the large number of people trying to pass through. They also ensured that they had consulted with the airport security team and relevant departments, and had notified both fans and reporters at the airport beforehand.
The organizers stated that they would request cooperation from fans at the event and also provide more comprehensive training for their security team members. They also mentioned that they plan to use this incident as a learning opportunity and conduct prevention training. Additionally, they expressed sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.
In recent days, there has been a heated debate on social media regarding the strict security measures put in place for Byun Woo-seok’s departure. Several passengers expressed their dissatisfaction with the actor’s security team, claiming that they obstructed the gate at Incheon International Airport and even checked passengers’ tickets. This has raised concerns about the potential impact on Byun Woo-seok’s growing popularity, following the success of his latest project, “Lovely Runner”.
