Caedrel Criticizes Bwipo’s “Childish” Rants Targeting League of Legends Pros

Gabriël ‘Bwipo’ Rau has been making waves in the competitive League of Legends scene by throwing shade at other professional players during his streams since arriving in Europe for the Worlds 2024 boot camp. Marc Robert ‘Caedrel’ Lamont has voiced concerns that Bwipo’s remarks are overly harsh towards his fellow pros.

While there is certainly room for critique within the Western esports community, especially regarding the international performances of both the LEC and LCS, Caedrel acknowledges that, although Bwipo might aim to elevate the region’s standards, the method of delivery is what he strongly disapproves of.

“Initially, it was entertaining content, and he was making critical points while helping others. But now, he’s just being an a**hole—what is he even saying?” Caedrel remarked during his stream.

Since his boot camp streams began, Bwipo has launched several tirades targeting players such as Vincent ‘Vetheo’ Berrié, Kim ‘Chasy’ Dong-hyeon, Kyeong ‘Photon’ Gyu-tae, and Marek ‘Humanoid’ Brázda, critiquing their performance and team interactions.

This situation has stirred controversy in the community, and not in a positive light, according to Caedrel.

“Where’s the professionalism in any of this? Why go public with personal conversations and belittle others?” Caedrel questioned. “Some things should remain private. It’s just so childish.”

Bwipo has expressed a high level of confidence in his abilities, as reflected during an earlier interview in 2024. This year, he has largely backed up his skills with impressive performances, except for FlyQuest’s MSI run.

Despite this, Caedrel feels that the level of “flaming” directed at other players is unwarranted.

“His comments have left a sour taste for me, honestly. He really needs to tone it down. I respect him as a player, appreciate his game knowledge, and admire his competitive approach, but I absolutely cannot respect how he communicates—looking down on others, having a big ego, acting like others are beneath him,” the former pro expressed.

On a positive note, Bwipo has acknowledged some of his past statements, apologizing to Adam ‘Jackies’ Jeřábek after a heated exchange. Nevertheless, his sharp critiques of other pro players have ignited a broader discussion within the community, creating pressure for him to deliver when he steps onto the stage at Worlds 2024.
