The latest patch notes for Black Ops 6 Season 1, released on December 10, address multiple gameplay issues, including the notorious Nuketown Holiday glitch, adjustments to weapon handling, and significant modifications to headshot damage across various weapon classes.

Released on December 5, the Nuketown Holiday map was met with enthusiasm by fans; however, many players experienced an unintended bug causing their characters to emit a peculiar glow. Thankfully, the December 10 update has successfully resolved this issue.

In addition to fixing the bug, the recent update introduces crucial adjustments to weapon motion mechanics, aiming to enhance overall player experience. These changes include reductions in visual recoil, gun kick, and idle sway; although it’s important to note that these adjustments exclude Sniper Rifles from some modifications.

Global Changes to Weapon Mechanics

Weapons [MP/ZM/WZ]

  • Developer Note: A thorough examination of weapon motion mechanics has been conducted, resulting in reductions between 30% and 75% depending on the weapon class. These improvements will make aiming and movement significantly more stable, enhancing the overall combat experience.
  • Weapon Motion Adjustments:
    • Decreased visual recoil across all weapons with an emphasis on full-auto categories.
    • Lessened turn sway for improved precision, particularly when using high-magnification optics.
    • Gun kick for higher magnification optics reduced, excluding Sniper Rifles.
    • Idle sway adjustments on all weapons except Sniper Rifles have been implemented.
    • The stability of weapon motion while walking or changing stance while aiming down sights (ADS) has been enhanced.
    • Eliminated excessive hipfire deviation that was causing crosshair instability during sustained fire.
  • Aiming Idle Sway Delay:

    • The default Aiming Idle Sway Delay for all weapons is now 2.2 seconds.
    • Sniper Rifles now eliminate idle sway entirely instead of the previous 50% reduction.
    • Using a Target Laser increases Aiming Idle Sway Delay to 2.9 seconds across all weapons.

    • Spawn logic has been adjusted for a more balanced gameplay experience.

  • Face Off:
    • Score limits have been increased for various modes to enhance competitive play.
  • 10v10 Moshpit:
    • Score limits have been raised, improving the dynamics of team play.
  • Prop Hunt:
    • Prop movement speed has been increased for quicker gameplay.
    • Round Time Limit is now set to 3 minutes, as opposed to 4.
    • Prop Hunt is now available in Private Matches.

Enhancements in Weapon Balancing

The developers have acknowledged ongoing discussions about headshot damage within the community. This patch boosts headshot damage across various primary weapons, particularly focusing on Assault Rifles and LMGs, while largely leaving SMGs unaffected. Notably, this includes buffs to CHF barrels, resulting in heightened headshot effectiveness.
