A recent leak from the Call of Duty franchise has stirred excitement among fans, indicating that a popular map from the Black Ops series is poised for a comeback. Interestingly, this revival may not be part of the anticipated Black Ops 6 release, but could be included in a later installment.
Throughout its history, Call of Duty has frequently revisited and revitalized iconic maps, particularly those from the Black Ops subseries. Treyarch has been particularly proactive in bringing back beloved maps such as Summit, Raid, Firing Range, and Nuketown across various titles. This tactic not only capitalizes on nostalgia but also provides players with familiar battlegrounds.
However, while many players appreciate the nostalgia factor, the practice of remastering older maps can be polarizing. Some players yearn for new experiences and are divided on whether classic maps align with the thematic elements of contemporary games or effectively integrate with new gameplay mechanics.
In Black Ops 6, we’ve already seen the return of iconic maps, including Nuketown and the newly rebranded Stadium, now known as Red Card. Leaks suggest that even more classics could make an appearance, such as Firing Range and Yemen.
Launch Map from Black Ops 1 Set to Return After Four-Year Hiatus
Launch was considered one of the standout maps in Black Ops 1.
Now, a new leak has surfaced claiming that another beloved map, Launch, will be reintroduced. The information stems from a reliable source, ForwardLeaks, who revealed that this classic from Black Ops 1 is currently in development under the codename “Cosmodrome.”
On December 8, ForwardLeaks posted on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Launch from Black Ops 1 will be returning in Black Ops 6 or CoD 2025.”

Originally, the Launch map appeared in only two titles—Black Ops and Black Ops 4. It also made an appearance in the Zombies mode of Call of Duty as Ascension, showcasing its versatility across different gameplay styles.
If it returns in Black Ops 6, it will mark the first time in five years that this map has been utilized in a Call of Duty title. Unlike some other frequently recycled maps, Launch has not been overexposed, bringing a breath of fresh air to players eager for classic locations.
At this juncture, it’s unclear whether Launch will feature in the current gaming cycle or if its return is slated for CoD 2025. Early leaks regarding that title hint at the inclusion of other remastered maps from Black Ops 2, sparking further anticipation among the community.
