Call of Duty Menu Overhaul: Black Ops 6 Update Criticized as “Terrible”

Recently, an overhaul was introduced to the Call of Duty HQ app, offering the long-anticipated enhancements, yet many players remain skeptical about the revamped user interface.

The persistent complaint within the gaming community has been the Call of Duty menu layout. As the app encompasses every installment since Modern Warfare 2019, users often struggle to locate their desired game or mode.

With the launch of Black Ops 6 just around the corner, developers aimed to tackle this concern by revamping the UI for improved navigation. Now, all games are consolidated under a single tab, while the home screen highlights the latest or most pertinent content, along with the modes players have recently engaged in.

Nonetheless, even with these updates, many gamers feel that the new interface is still more complex compared to other titles.

“Could we please revert to the straightforward menus of earlier Call of Duty games?” asked a Reddit user. Numerous others echoed this sentiment, believing that the UI modifications do not resolve the primary issues.

“What exactly is the supposed improvement with the ‘updated’ version?” another user questioned. “You still have to open HQ, find the game you want, and then start it.”

In another discussion thread on Reddit, opinions were largely consistent. While many acknowledged that the menus appear cleaner, they contended that trying to integrate various Call of Duty titles within the same application still leads to messiness and confusion.

“Why can’t games just have their own client applications? Why does it have to be like this?” expressed one frustrated player, while another added, “I long for the days when the game was just THE GAME.”

Some fans clarified that the rationale for keeping all games within the same CoD HQ app stems from their integration with Warzone, making it convenient for players to access everything in one location. Many attribute the poor UI experience to the influence of the successful battle royale format.

Since Black Ops 6 is also set to merge with Warzone in Season 1, it seems unlikely that developers will consider separating the titles into individual apps in the near future.
