Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is testing out a classic feature

Skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) is utilized in Call of Duty to ensure fair team distribution based on skill level. Additionally, lobbies are disbanded after each match in order to form new teams from the beginning. However, some casual players who use the game as a pastime may view this feature as unnecessary.

According to reports, Sledgehammer Games is currently experimenting with a new feature that allows players to remain in the same lobby after a match ends. Those who choose to stay will be taken back to the pregame screen as a group, while any vacancies will be filled by new players.

The experimental feature appears to be functioning as intended. Back in November, developers had alluded to its possible return and mentioned that it would become accessible to all users if the trial was deemed successful.

Despite the introduction of the new feature, SBMM is not completely eliminated. Even if you stick with your original team, any departing members will be replaced in order to maintain a balanced distribution of skills.

After the Season 3 update, evidence of two popular weapons – the Kar98k sniper and SPAS-12 shotgun – was discovered by dataminers in game files. Fans may be excited to know that these classic weapons could potentially be included in an upcoming battle pass.

There is plenty to look forward to from Call of Duty this year. A leaked parkour map for Modern Warfare 3 has been revealed, showcasing a Retrowave aesthetic. Fans can anticipate its release in Season 3, where it will offer an exciting challenge focused on movement and strategy.
