MW3 Season 6 is the concluding seasonal update for the game before the arrival of Black Ops 6. This update introduces The Haunting event, new weapons, and an assortment of spooky game modes.
As the Modern Warfare 3 content cycle comes to a close, players are gearing up for Treyarch’s upcoming title. However, before Black Ops 6 takes the spotlight and integrates with Warzone, developers have planned a festival of Halloween-themed content.
MW3 Season 6 Release Date & Time
The Modern Warfare 3 Season 6 update launches on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM BST. This information was initially disclosed through the Season 5 Battle Pass timer before being confirmed by the developers.
In addition to all the Season 6 content, this patch will also remove all the Black Ops 6 beta files to optimize storage space.
New Weapons in MW3 Season 6
Players can look forward to two new weapons in Modern Warfare 3 Season 6 – the DTIR 30-06 Battle Rifle and the Kastov LSW LMG.
The DTIR 30-06 Battle Rifle is characterized as a “hard-hitting”weapon with a slow fire rate, ideal for precise long-range engagements. Conversely, the Kastov LSW LMG is optimized for close-quarter combat, boasting a “best-in-class”fire rate and time-to-kill (TTK).
Both weapons can be unlocked by completing Sector 6 and Sector 9 of the Season 6 Battle Pass, respectively, and they are available as free rewards, not requiring the premium version.
The Haunting Brings New Game Modes to MW3
Season 6 sees the return of The Haunting event in Warzone, alongside many Halloween-themed multiplayer modes.
Hordepoint
Making its return from CoD WW2, Hordepoint is a variation of the classic Hardpoint format. As usual, players must secure and protect a series of rotating positions on the map while earning points for their team for every second they control the point.
However, players will have to fend off not just the opposing team but also hordes of zombies that infest the map, adding an extra layer of challenge.
Mutation
In Season 6, Mutation mode returns with multiple unique gameplay styles, dividing players into teams of regular Operators and mutants. The regular team can use their custom loadouts, while mutants have access to several distinct classes:
- Mutated Leaper: Faster movement speed, enhanced melee damage, and the ability to sense nearby enemies.
- Radioactive Beast: Emits a howl to boost health and movement speed of allies and reveals enemies on the minimap.
- Contaminated Sludger: Uses smoke to block sightlines and attacks with an acid blast, self-destructing upon death.
- Camouflaged Sneaker: Gains brief invisibility and slows enemies with energy projectiles, capable of charging enemies with an electrified leap.
Infected
No Halloween event would be complete without Infected, a fan-favorite mode making its comeback in Season 6. One player starts as the Infected, armed with a melee weapon and Throwing Knives, tasked with eliminating survivors.
With each elimination, the affected players become part of the undead team until the timer expires or all players are converted.
All New Maps in MW3 Season 6
A new core 6v6 map named Drive Thru is set to be launched, situated around Funny’s Fried Fun, a clown-themed eatery that brings a uniquely unsettling atmosphere.
Additionally, the existing map Meat will undergo a Halloween transformation, becoming Mad Cow. Despite its grim aesthetic, the flooded environment presents opportunities to ambush unsuspecting foes.
Moreover, Shipment will see five new themed variants available at launch:
- Arena Shipment (Set within an indoor training area)
- Stay High (Bright-colored block format)
- Bit-ment (Pixel art-inspired)
- Ghost Ship (Mystical ground blanketed in fog)
- Sunny Shipment (Daytime setting)

- The Walking Dead: Road to Terminus (September 25 – October 2)
- Trick ‘r Treat: Candy Hunt (October 2 – October 16)
