The recent collaboration between Call of Duty and the widely popular Netflix series Squid Game has introduced a new Operator skin for The Front Man. However, it has come to light that this skin shares exactly the same voice lines as an older Operator, The Replacer, which was first launched in November 2024 across Black Ops 6 and Warzone.
Riding the wave of Squid Game Season 2’s astounding success, Activision has decided to take advantage of the heightened fanfare with the latest crossover events in its iconic FPS franchise. Players can look forward to new game modes and a range of themed cosmetics as the critically acclaimed series makes an entrance into the gaming world.
Despite the excitement, the collaboration has encountered a number of significant issues. Players have reported game-breaking bugs in the new modes, and the skins have come under fire not only for lacking accuracy in details but also for their hefty price tags.
Concerns Arise Over Voice Lines in The Front Man Skin
Although The Front Man operates with minimal dialogue in Squid Game—mainly due to his masked persona— his Operator skin in Call of Duty features an abundance of voiced lines. Unfortunately, these quotes are anything but fresh.
Rather than crafting new lines specifically for this premium rewards track, developers opted to recycle existing quotes. This revelation was first highlighted by a player on X (previously known as Twitter), who showcased a side-by-side comparison of the voice lines from both The Front Man and The Replacer. Notably, phrases like “I can’t feel my face” and “Smooth, too smooth” are identical.
this game is so embarrassing how did Netflix allow this collab to go this way? Roblox and Fortnite’s Squid Games blow this out of the water

This has led to speculation among players that Activision may have employed AI technology to re-use the voice lines for The Front Man skin. The gaming giant has faced backlash before concerning the use of AI-generated content, having previously sold skins reportedly created with AI assistance. While no official confirmation has been made, the possibility remains troubling for fans.
One player expressed frustration, saying, “He’s got a lot more of the same voice lines, it really sucks,” indicating that this might be just the tip of the iceberg in terms of rehashed content. Additional players voiced their disapproval as well; one remarked, “This game is so embarrassing. Just lazy AI writing for voice lines used on multiple operators. The more I see of this game, the more it pisses me off,” showing a growing dissatisfaction within the community.
As of now, Activision has not yet responded to the backlash concerning The Front Man skin within the Squid Game collaboration. The gaming community is left waiting for clarity and potential solutions regarding these growing concerns.
