In 2024, on August 9th, the official website and X (previously known as Twitter) account for the anime Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Hold Up (full title: Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Hold Up? No It Can’t!!) released a teaser visual announcing the series’ premiere in 2025. The production of the series will be handled by J.C. Staff Studios.
The light novel, published under the Dengeki Bunko imprint by ASCII Media Works since January 2021, has nine volumes released to date. Additionally, Kamelie’s illustrations are featured in the manga adaptation of the series, serialized in Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine.

As previously stated, the official team has confirmed that the anime series Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Hold Up, also known as Danjo no Yujo wa Seiritsu Suru? Iya, Shinai!!, will be made available in 2025. However, an exact release date has not yet been announced. Additionally, details such as the cast and crew have not been disclosed at this time.
Despite this, it was announced by the staff that the production of the anime would be entrusted to J.C. Staff production studios. This highly respected studio has an impressive track record, having worked on popular anime series such as One Punch Man season 2, Food Wars, Toradora!, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K, and more.
The studio has recently been working on projects such as Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest and 2.5 Dimensional Seduction. In addition to these titles, the studio has Honey Lemon Soda, Murai no Love, and other projects planned for the future.
In addition to announcing the release window, the official staff has also revealed a teaser visual for the upcoming anime Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Hold Up. The illustration showcases Himaru Inuzuka, depicted with a bright smile against a captivating twilight backdrop.
About the Series
The plot of the youth romantic comedy series revolves around Yu Natsume, an energetic girl, and Himari Inuzuka, a lover of flowers, who made a lifelong promise to be friends during their middle school years.
In a quiet small town, they live peacefully without any major changes. Himari believes that if Yu is unable to find love, it is her responsibility to take care of him. However, their relationship is thrown off balance when Yu’s first love unexpectedly returns to the town one day.
