In a survey conducted on YouTube, Korean internet users were asked to vote on the potential recovery of ILLIT and LE SSERAFIM’s image.
The reputations of ILLIT and LE SSERAFIM were severely damaged due to the intense HYPE and ongoing feud with Min Hee Jin. According to Min Hee Jin, HYBE Labels and BELIFT Lab deliberately replicated NewJean’s formula for their debut.
Despite being rookies, netizens have turned their back on them due to their live vocal controversy.
However, LE SSERAFIM has faced difficulties ever since their “EASY”promotions in March. After receiving criticism for their underwhelming vocals during encore performances, there was much anticipation for their Coachella stages in April.
Unfortunately, their performance was not well-received; numerous criticisms were made about their unsteady and wavering vocals. This caused many to believe that they had brought dishonor to Korea and the K-pop industry.
Min Hee Jin’s announcement that NewJeans’s debut had been postponed due to the recruitment of Chaewon and Sakura into Source Music, and the company’s preparations for the debut of LE SSERAFIM, resulted in a setback for the group. As a result, they were unable to claim the title of “HYBE’s first girl group”upon their debut.
Despite their reputations being at stake, there are many who are curious if they will be able to make a comeback. On May 12th, an article called “The YouTube poll that received over 100K votes regarding ILLIT and LE SSERAFIM’s public perception”was posted on TheQo.
The poll, which inquired about the image of girl group ILLIT, garnered over 110,000 votes. The options presented were “Regardless of their actions, they will always be perceived as ‘copycats’”and “As rookies, they have the potential to redeem their image.”
The initial option received an impressive 87% of votes, while just 13% are confident in their ability to restore their reputation.
According to a survey conducted on LE SSERAFIM’s image, the options were “They cannot redeem their image”and “If they perform well, they can restore their image.”The former received 89% of the votes, while only 11% believed in the possibility of image recovery.
The poll mentioned above has received more than 120,000 votes.
Korean netizens responded to the post by expressing their agreement with the poll’s findings. They continue to stand by Min Hee Jin and NewJeans, but state that they will no longer be supporting their music.

- “I’m just going to listen to NewJeans.”
- “I won’t be listening to either group.”
- “I’m not going to play their songs anymore. I hate hearing them.”
- “Whether their images will recover isn’t based on their talents alone. I don’t want to see them again.”
