Can Kenjaku return to Jujutsu Kaisen after what Yuta did? Possibilities explored

It has been a topic of discussion among Jujutsu Kaisen fans whether Kenjaku will reappear in the story after Yuta Okkotsu successfully replicated his body-swapping Cursed Technique by having Rika consume his head. Although his return may seem improbable, considering he was consumed by Rika, Yuta’s takeover of Satoru Gojo’s body caught many by surprise, leaving room for speculation about Kenjaku’s potential comeback.

It cannot be denied that a significant portion of the Jujutsu Kaisen fanbase found Kenjaku’s defeat by Fumihiko Takaba and Yuta to be underwhelming. Given his reputation as a skilled manipulator, many were left wondering if there was a chance for him to have a final moment of triumph. Although this may seem unlikely at present, there is still room for speculation in a series of this nature.

Please note: The following article includes spoilers for the series.

Exploring the Potential Return of Kenjaku in the Jujutsu Kaisen Manga

Currently, there are limited chances of Kenjaku returning, although one of the more plausible scenarios is him possessing a backup body. It is possible that over the years, Kenjaku has discovered a way to split his soul and inhabit other vessels, although this would require significant alterations to the story, something that author Gege Akutami would likely want to avoid.

Despite the possibility that Rika’s act of eating Kenjaku may not have been enough to kill him, it could still result in him taking over Yuta’s body. However, this scenario seems unlikely as Kenjaku’s brain is what sustains his life, and Rika consuming it should have ultimately ended his existence.

It is also possible that Kenjaku gained control of the body by transforming into a Curse, although this idea may seem unlikely as well. This theory is supported by the scene in the Shibuya Incident arc where Suguru Geto’s body was seen attempting to strangle him, potentially indicating that Kenjaku had made a significant advancement in his Cursed Technique and gained a new understanding of it.

The Aftermath of Kenjaku’s Death

Despite being one of the main villains in Jujutsu Kaisen, Kenjaku’s fate was seemingly sealed after a battle that involved a comedic sketch with Takaba and Yuta. The story revealed that he was attacked from behind and this led to his presumed death. This decision sparked a lot of debate and divided opinions as many believed that Akutami had squandered one of his two major antagonists.

Despite his underwhelming final moments, many fans are still coming up with theories on how he could potentially return. The resolution of his character’s storyline was lacking in impact, as the majority of the battle was focused on Takaba, a secondary character with no real connection to Kenjaku. This resulted in a hollow resolution and a lack of escalating tension in the conflict.

Final Thoughts

Despite the various canon options available, it is highly unlikely for Kenjaku to make a comeback in Jujutsu Kaisen. It appears that his role in the story has concluded, and it would require a significant plot twist from Akutami to bring back this antagonist.
