Can Tokyo Revengers Season 4 Cover the Entire Final Arc? Explained

Despite receiving strong initial reception, Tokyo Revengers season 4 has become a major point of discussion among fans. While the first season was well-received, the subsequent seasons failed to maintain the massive fanbase that had been built. Fans were disappointed with the handling of the series by Ken Wakui, especially after the manga concluded in 2022.

However, the anime-only fanbase is eagerly anticipating the details that will be included in Tokyo Revengers season 4. This brings up an intriguing inquiry – will Tokyo Revengers season 4 encompass the entirety of the final arc? Unfortunately, no. The upcoming season will not cover the remaining chapters of the manga series. Let’s examine what viewers can anticipate in the next season by considering the number of chapters that have yet to be adapted into an anime.

Please note: This article may contain minor spoilers from the manga chapters.

As previously mentioned, Tokyo Revengers season 4 will not encompass the remaining storylines of the manga. With a significant number of chapters still remaining, attempting to fit them all into one season would not be a wise decision. The pacing would suffer and the studio may have to omit crucial plot developments in order to meet time constraints.

The upcoming season will kick off with the ‘Bonten arc,’ which is the second-to-last story arc of the anime and manga series. Despite not being the ‘Final arc,’ it would not be wise for the studio to try and fit both the ‘Bonten arc’ and the ‘Final arc’ into one season.

Based on the average, each episode of the anime series covers approximately 3 chapters. This information can help fans estimate the number of chapters that will be included in the upcoming season.

The ‘Final arc’ can be divided into two additional sections – the ‘Three Deities arc’ and the ‘Kanto Manji arc’. Together, the ‘Bonten’ and ‘Three Deities’ arcs consist of 50 chapters, approximately 17 of which may be included in Tokyo Revengers season 4. This suggests that the season may span two cours, with the first cour focusing on the ‘Bonten arc’ and the second on the ‘Three Deities arc’.

The production studio has the option to dedicate an entire season to the ‘Kanto Manji arc’ of the series, which consists of 43 chapters and can be adapted into 14-15 episodes. Alternatively, the studio could choose to follow the trend of other anime titles and create a movie adaptation of the entire ‘Kanto Manji arc’, similar to the approach taken with the Haikyuu series.

While it may not be ideal, continuing with the movie format may not be the best option as it hasn’t been successful thus far. As previously mentioned, season 4 of Tokyo Revengers will not encompass the entire ‘Final arc’ and instead, the story will conclude either in another season or a movie.

Be on the lookout for additional updates on anime and manga throughout the year 2024.
