The highly-anticipated sequel to the renowned CS:GO, Counter-Strike 2, is determined to provide players with an exceptional gaming experience. However, upon release, left-handed players were disappointed to find that their preferred view model was not available. Fortunately, Valve has now resolved the issue, and here’s a guide on how to play left-handed in CS2.
When initially playing Counter-Strike 2, the default setting is for players to be in a right-handed perspective. This means that your in-game character will hold weapons and equipment, like grenades and smokes, with their right hand.
In the original CS:GO, numerous players opted to switch to a left-handed view, either because it was their personal preference or to move the weapon model to a less obstructive position. Thus, it is understandable that players would also want to have this option available in CS2.
Is Left-Hand View in CS2?
The April 25 update in CS2 now offers a left-handed ViewModel option.
The reason for the omission of the option in the release of Counter-Strike 2 remains unclear, considering that the ability to change viewmodels has been a feature since the early days of CSGO.
Despite seven months of protest and pleading from the community, Valve has finally delivered an update in late April.
The teaser video released by Valve showcases that the setting in the upcoming game will closely resemble that of CSGO, allowing players to switch between viewmodels during the course of a game.

How to Switch Hands in CS2
The “Preferred ViewModel Left/Right Handedness”setting is now available in the CS2 settings, allowing you to choose a default option.
In order to switch sides quickly, a new option has been added for key binding called “Switch Viewmodel Left/Right Hand”. The default key for this option is H. If H is already being used for another function or you prefer a different key, you can easily change it in the key binding settings or through the console.
Why Use Left Hand in CS2?
If you are left-handed, it’s understandable why you would prefer to have a left-hand view in the game. However, if you are right-handed, you may view using a left-handed ViewModel as unnecessary.
Despite being predominantly used by right-handed players, there are many who still employ a command to swiftly alternate between their left and right hands. This is often necessary as the weapon and character’s arms may obstruct one’s view, thus making it imperative to switch hands in order to have a clear vision on one side.
In CS2, the first-person perspective has been updated to be network sided, allowing spectators to observe whether the player is using a left or right-hand view model.
