Can’t believe this nonsense – One Piece fans refute Shanks is evil theory

Despite the vast amount of lore in the One Piece series, it has sparked numerous theories. While Shanks has been a frequent topic of these theories, the “Shanks is evil”theory has gained traction following the revelation that he may have ties to the Celestial Dragons.

The fanbase has been divided over theories about him due to the multitude of assumptions they are based on. A recent post made by a fan has sparked excitement among a significant portion of the community by highlighting Shanks’ portrayal as a villain in the anime’s opening sequence, positioned against Kid.

One Piece: The Controversial Theory About Shank’s Allegiances

There has been a lot of discussion among fans about Shanks’ role in the story, especially after the revelation that Saint Figarland Garling could be his father. Additionally, Shanks’ past meetings with the Five Elders to discuss a particular pirate and his questionable behavior in seeking the One Piece treasure have led some to speculate that he could potentially become a main antagonist in the story.

A fan pointed out that the new opening sequence of the anime depicts the “good”characters, including Kid, facing the “bad”characters, such as Shanks. This led to speculation that Shanks may be portrayed as a villain in the future. However, many fans dismissed this theory as baseless, citing Shanks’ popularity and the fact that opening sequences do not necessarily reveal major plot points.

Fan Responses to the Post

The concept of Shanks being evil has been a longstanding theory in the One Piece fandom, particularly among non-English speaking communities. While there were some mentions of this theory within the English-speaking fandom, it did not receive much attention and did not become widely accepted.

Despite being based on numerous assumptions, the theory has recently gained popularity within the English fandom. Fans have pointed out that the opening sequence, which is often used to support the argument, does not hold much weight as it was not directly created by Oda.

“Toei don’t know a shit about ending of OnePiece. And they made this Opening not Oda,”one fan said.

“Luffy said himself he needs to beat all 4 emperors. So by that standard Shanks is technically an enemy,”another fan said.

Several other fans have noted that the argument is flawed because Kuzan is not inherently wicked, but rather a rival to be defeated. Likewise, Shanks is merely a foe and not inherently malevolent.

“They are enemies doesn’t necessarily mean they’re evil tho, Kuzan for sure is not evil but he is an enemy,”one fan wrote.

“Doesn’t really work since Kuzan is not evil, it’s more so a visualization of an obstacle that needs to be overcome to progress in the journey,”another fan wrote.

The supposed spoilers for One Piece chapter 1125 suggest that Saint Saturn will meet his demise and Figarland Garling will take on the role of an Elder. It has been strongly hinted that Figarland is Shanks’ biological father, so there is a chance that these allegations against Shanks will be further explored in upcoming chapters.
