Capcom Issues Important Announcement for Monster Hunter Wilds Beta Test

The open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds is about to launch, and Capcom is working diligently to keep fans updated on the access details.

The long-awaited moment for Monster Hunter enthusiasts is almost here. After months filled with exciting teasers showcasing new monsters, beloved weapons, and fresh gameplay mechanics previously unseen in the franchise, players are ready to dive into the next installment of the series.

Although the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta will be available soon, access will vary for players depending on their console platform. However, there’s been some misunderstanding regarding who can participate in this early experience—not about the launch dates, but rather about eligibility.

To clear up any doubts, Capcom turned to X (formerly Twitter) via the official Monster Hunter account to explain that pre-ordering Monster Hunter Wilds is not a requirement to join the open beta. The company reassured gamers across all consoles that no pre-orders are necessary.

Capcom stated, “We’ve seen some comments wondering if you need to have pre-ordered Monster Hunter Wilds to access the Open Beta Test. The answer is no, no pre-order is needed to play!”

It’s not uncommon for players to assume that pre-ordering might be a condition for participating in beta tests, especially given the trend in recent titles where early access is often restricted to those who make a purchase in advance.

This practice has been observed in various games like Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, Diablo 4, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. However, the primary goal of the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta is to attract pre-orders rather than to reward players who have already purchased the game.

The beta kicks off for PlayStation Plus subscribers on Monday, October 28, at 8:00 PM PT, while other users can join in starting Thursday, October 31, at 8:00 PM PT.

This is a time-limited event set to conclude on Sunday, November 3, at 6:59 PM PT, and once again, participating does not require prior pre-ordering. Capcom noted, “If you’d like to pre-order after playing the Open Beta Test, that’d be cool,” adding a friendly note to their announcement.
