Captain Sandy raves about Chief Stew Aesha’s efforts to impress her

Captain Sandy Yawn explained her thoughts on Aesha Scott returning as Chief Stew for Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9.

Despite appearing as a Chief Stew, Aesha Scott was once again reunited with Captain Sandy Yawn on Season 9 of Below Deck Mediterranean.

Prior to starring on the spinoff Below Deck Down Under with Captain Jason Chambers, she had worked as a second stew with Captain Sandy on Seasons 4 and 5, but has since progressed in her career to higher positions.

During an interview with Extra, Captain Sandy discussed her experience working with Aesha again on Below Deck Med. She also shared that she and Aesha have maintained a strong friendship over the years.

The captain gushed about her fellow crew member Aesha, who had left her position as a second stew to further her education and acquire new skills. Aesha had returned with these impressive skills and the captain was delighted by her dedication to impress her. It was truly adorable.

“My main goal was for her to excel in her job performance. I am consistently impressed by individuals who make an effort. Aesha exceeded expectations. I thoroughly enjoy observing her leadership abilities. She possesses exceptional managerial skills, is highly focused on people, and has a strong set of abilities.”

Despite having difficulties getting along with certain crew members in the past, Captain Sandy may have felt more comfortable on the Mustique due to the presence of a familiar face.

During the fifth season, the decision was made to terminate Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier from her position by the owner, after Bosun Malia White discovered Valium in her cabin. This was deemed a violation of maritime regulations.

Outside of the show, she has formed a strong bond with her new Chief, whom Aesha affectionately calls her ‘second mom’.

As Below Deck Med Season 9 unfolds, viewers will witness Captain Sandy’s unwavering support for Aesha in her leadership position on board, particularly as she continues to excel in her yachting career.
