CDL Fans Disappointed as CoD Champs Venue Chosen in Remote Location

The announcement regarding the host for the 2025 Call of Duty League Championship has certainly raised eyebrows among fans, particularly because of the choice of venue. Traditionally, the CDL has waited until later in the year to disclose its championship venue, but this time, the details emerged early, before the regular season commenced.

This season, the schedule has exciting matchups lined up, with Toronto Ultra kicking off the year by hosting Major 1 in Madrid, followed by OpTic Texas hosting Major 2 in Dallas, and Miami Heretics taking over Major 3 in Boca Raton, Florida. Additionally, it has been confirmed that Dallas will host Major 4, coinciding with DreamHack Dallas, while Toronto Ultra will take the lead for the Championship held at the end of the season.

Unexpected Venue for CDL Champs

In a surprising twist, Activision has revealed that the 2025 CDL Championship will take place from June 26-29 at Kitchener Memorial Auditorium, located in Kitchener, Ontario.

Although tickets for this highly anticipated event are currently available for purchase, fans are advised to carefully review the details before making travel arrangements. Last year’s Major, hosted by Toronto Ultra, took place at Ryerson’s Mattamy Athletic Centre in downtown Toronto. In contrast, the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium is situated about two hours from the previous venue and approximately ninety minutes from Toronto Pearson International Airport, which has sparked discontent among players and fans alike.

Former Toronto Ultra player and current LA Thieves member Scrap voiced his disappointment, stating, “Champs should always be in a big city. Literally ALWAYS.” Meanwhile, 100 Thieves Co-Owner Jack “Courage” Dunlop humorously noted, “This has to be a troll location lol.” Another fan added their shock, asking, “Kitchener?? We’re joking, right? This has to be a f**king joke.”

As of now, Activision has not publicly addressed the backlash surrounding the choice of venue. For those interested in further developments, don’t miss out on the latest updates, including news about OpTic Texas’s roster changes.
