According to a recent poll, actress Han So-hee was voted the top “star who has possibly harmed their reputation through outspoken statements.”Han So-hee garnered 1,639 votes (12%) out of a total of 13,847 votes.
Despite her reputation for being candid and unfiltered, Han So-hee has faced criticism for her straightforward remarks. One notable instance was when she addressed the controversy surrounding her rumored relationship with Ryu Jun-yeol, which was speculated to involve dating overlap. While some appreciate her openness, others view her outspokenness as too blunt or sensitive.
In the runner-up position was Sakura, with a total of 1,353 votes (10%). Following her debut in Japan, Sakura rose to fame as a member of the Korean girl group IZ*ONE and is currently part of LE SSERAFIM. Earlier this year, she made a bold statement in response to harsh criticism about her live performance at Coachella.
At the time, Sakura reflected, “Throughout our preparation for Coachella and up until the performance, I gained a lot of insight. I questioned what it truly means to take the stage – is it about captivating the audience or flawlessly executing the performance without any errors? The interpretation varies for each individual and is influenced by the type of stage.”She further added, “While some may view our performance as lacking, it’s important to remember that perfection is unattainable and we gave our best effort.”However, her statement drew criticism, with some accusing it of promoting a Japanese-style mentality of “victory in spirit.”
Kim Yoon-ah, the lead singer of Jaurim, came in third place. She had previously used social media to express strong opposition to the release of Fukushima’s contaminated water, which also sparked backlash from political figures.
During that time, Kim Yoon-ah shared her worries about the release of radioactive water into the ocean by Japan’s Fukushima nuclear power plant. She expressed, “I have been consumed with anger for days. The apocalyptic world portrayed in movies like Blade Runner + 4 Years is becoming a reality. It reminds me of the dystopian landscape of LA where radioactive rain never stops and darkness prevails. On days like this, I can’t help but think about the hell we are creating.”She also posted a photo with the caption “RIP Earth.”
In light of the recent controversy surrounding a social media post by Kim Yoon-ah, her agency, Interpark Entertainment, has released a statement clarifying that the post was not intended to express a political standpoint. Instead, it was a reflection of her worries and remorse regarding environmental pollution.
In the poll, other stars who were mentioned were actor Jung Woo-sung, Super Junior member Kim Hee-chul, and former Secret member Jeon Hyo-sung.
The DC Inside poll results were given for “celebrities who have apparently tarnished their public image due to controversial statements.”
