In the mid-1990s, Yoon Son-ha made her debut and quickly became known as a rising youth star due to her pure image and beauty. However, in 2001, she suddenly stopped her activities in Korean broadcasting and transitioned into the Japanese entertainment industry.
Despite not speaking a word of Japanese upon her arrival in Japan in 2001, there were doubts about Yoon Son-ha’s potential for success in the Japanese entertainment industry as a newcomer at an older age.
Despite only being two years into her Japanese career, Yoon Son-ha showcased her exceptional Japanese language proficiency and impressive hosting skills on the show Ame Talk, where she co-starred with popular Japanese teen celebrity Aya.
On September 16, 2006, Yoon Son-ha tied the knot with Shin Jae-hyun, a businessman who was five years older than her. They were introduced to each other by singer Park Hye-kyung. The couple is blessed with a son and a daughter. After welcoming her daughter into the world, Yoon Son-ha made the decision to step away from her commitments in Japan and prioritize her role as a parent.
After learning of a violent incident involving her son, Yoon Son-ha made the decision to immigrate to Canada in order to give him a regular school experience. It was later discovered that one of the attackers was a parent of Yoon Son-ha’s son.
Despite claiming that the news was distorted by SBS, Yoon Son-ha received criticism for her response to the situation. Her statement, which placed more emphasis on excuses rather than an apology, was met with backlash and ultimately prompted her to issue a second official apology. In this subsequent apology, she expressed remorse and offered her apologies to the injured child, their family, the school, and all others involved.
Yoon Son-ha’s team has clarified that although she may be able to stay in Canada, it is still too soon to confirm that she has officially emigrated.
According to reports, she currently resides in a small town near Vancouver, Canada.
