Cheesecake Factory server’s money-saving hack divides TikTok for family of 6

TikTok users were split in their opinions after a father, who managed to feed a family of six for only $28, asked their server for their thoughts on the “hack.”

Despite facing scrutiny in the past, Josh and Callie Mileham continue to gain popularity on TikTok for their money-saving hacks that they share while feeding their family of six. The couple, who are known for regularly posting content on the platform, have faced criticism from viewers who claim that their children are not being adequately fed during their outings.

They shared a video that garnered over a million views, showing their trip to the Cheesecake Factory with their children. According to them, the entire family was able to eat for just $28. Once they finished their meal, they inquired the server’s opinion.

“Josh asked, “As the server, how do you feel about us ordering only one salad and fries for our entire family of six?”

“To be honest, it didn’t bother me at all. It’s not uncommon for customers to order a single plate for multiple people,”the server responded. “I make it a point not to judge and instead focus on the customers themselves. You all were fantastic and it was a pleasure serving you. Your energy was infectious and it seemed like you were having a great time.”

“Josh asked, “Based on $28, what tip do you think is appropriate?”

“I aim for my tip to reflect the level of service I provided. Typically, I strive for a 20% tip, which would be a reflection of my performance. In this case, I am pleased to say that I received positive feedback from the table and believe I did a great job.”

Josh inquired whether a 22% tip, amounting to only $6, would be acceptable. The server responded affirmatively, stating that he would be satisfied with this amount.

Upon being shared on the platform, the video sparked a divisive reaction among viewers.

One person commented that the time he devoted to answering this question should be valued at a minimum of $15.

“I hope you gave him a tip of at least $20, as $6 would not suffice,”another agreed.

Despite Josh’s initial response in the comments section, where he advised viewers to wait for the second part, hinting that he had given the server a larger tip, the subsequent video reveals that they ultimately rewarded him with $100 for his hard work.

One person replied, expressing their admiration, “I love this! Not only did you save money on the food, but you were also able to bless your server. This is wonderful!”

Another individual wrote in, clearly moved, “I used to go in the back and cry as a server.”

A different customer gained widespread attention when they publicly criticized a store for not providing the option to choose “no tip”.
