Chelsea women’s boss Emma Hayes slammed after shoving Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall

The actions of Chelsea women’s manager Emma Hayes have been criticized after she pushed Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall at the conclusion of the Conti Cup final.

Arsenal secured a 1-0 victory against Chelsea in the final of the tournament for the second year in a row, with Stina Blackstenius scoring the crucial goal in extra time.

As the match ended, the two managers approached each other for a handshake, but Hayes forcefully pushed Eidevall away, appearing visibly angry with the Arsenal boss and his staff.

In an interview with BBC Sport following the match, Eidevall clarified that a disagreement regarding the implementation of a multi ball system was the primary reason for the dispute between the two managers.

“We had a discussion prior to the game where it was agreed that both clubs would decide whether or not to play with a multi-ball system,”Eideval explained.

“Chelsea stated that they preferred playing with a single ball while we expressed our preference for playing with multiple balls.”

In the final minute of the game, when they need to take a quick throw-in, they suddenly want to use another ball.

“All I did was point out that you guys wanted to play with one ball, so I don’t see how it’s my issue. It was just a heated moment, but I believe everything is fine now.”

However, Hayes’ actions after the final whistle at Molineux Stadium have drawn criticism from fans on social media.

One supporter shared on Twitter: “Emma Hayes’ behavior is disgraceful, such a lack of sportsmanship,”while another commented: “Her shove was completely unprofessional, Emma Hayes should know better.”

Arsenal’s victory marked the end of Chelsea’s chances of achieving a quadruple in the final season under Hayes’ leadership at the club. Despite still being in contention for the FA Cup and Champions League titles, the Blues are also currently in a tight race for the Women’s Super League title against Man City.

At the conclusion of the season, Hayes will step down from her position at Chelsea and assume the position of head coach for the US women’s national team.
