Chet Leaves NRG Valorant Coaching Role for CS2 Following Riot’s VCT Ban

Chetan ‘Chet’ Singh, the previous head coach of OpTic Gaming and NRG Esports in Valorant, has revealed his intention to transition to Counter-Strike 2 following a suspension by Riot Games from VCT until March 2025.

On October 15, Riot released a statement outlining the details of Singh’s suspension, citing a violation of the “Riot Games Global Esports Code of Conduct.”

According to Riot, Singh streamed “VoDs that were accessible due to his position as head coach of a VCT squad. His ability to access this content was not authorized, and distributing it on July 31, 2024, represented a breach of confidential information.”

The official decision states, “He did not obtain permission from Riot Games, NRG, or any of the related teams before publicly streaming inaccessible VoDs and communications on his personal channels.”

This suspension is effective immediately and will last until March 3, 2025, coinciding with the conclusion of VCT Masters Bangkok.

The announcement elicited a wave of surprise within the community. TSM player Subroza expressed disbelief simply stating, “outrageous,”while Asuna from 100 Thieves reacted with a stunned “wow…”

Another coach, Tanizhq, commented on Riot’s decision, noting, “This feels a bit like a witch hunt honestly; he streamed a VOD with team communications six months later, with only one of the original five players still on the team. (NRG had already produced a comms video of this).”

Chet Makes His Move to CS2

Shortly after the suspension news broke, Chet took to social media to announce his desire to re-enter the Counter-Strike coaching sphere.

“In light of recent events, I’ll be looking into opportunities in CS2. Any teams looking for coaches next year can reach out—my DMs are open,” he shared on X.

Previously, Chet has coached notable CS:GO teams such as NRG, Evil Geniuses, and OpTic before transitioning to Valorant in 2020.

Moreover, he indicated his openness to returning to Valorant coaching roles once his suspension concludes in March. Until then, he plans to continue streaming on Twitch.

In related Valorant esports developments, Riot recently expelled Bleed Esports from VCT due to “ongoing operational shortcomings.”
