Chick-Fil-A’s New Streaming Platform Faces Backlash From Viewers

Step aside, Netflix – a new competitor is joining the streaming industry, and it comes with a side of waffle fries.

Chick-Fil-A, an American fast-food chain, is entering the streaming industry by launching its own broadcasting platform featuring original content.

According to Deadline’s report on August 21, 2024, the chain is developing strategies to rival big broadcasting networks such as HBO in offering “family friendly”programs.

According to the source, Chick-Fil-A is collaborating with multiple production companies to create a variety of original content. Their main objective is to produce unscripted series that are suitable for viewers of all ages.

Additionally, the company is actively pursuing licenses for pre-existing content, including a game show from Glassman Media and 13 Reasons Why’s production studio, Sugar23.

Although this may not be the chain’s initial venture into the entertainment industry, the company has previously produced a collection of short, animated films known as ‘Stories of Evergreen Hills.’

Chick-Fil-A’s upcoming series reflects the company’s consistent “family friendly”approach. This approach is deeply rooted in the Christian beliefs of its founder, S. Truett Cathy, who was a devout Southern Baptist. The fact that the chain is closed on Sundays and major holidays, such as Christmas and Thanksgiving, is widely known in the United States.

Chick-Fil-A is the most recent major corporation to enter the streaming industry. It follows in the footsteps of Lyft and AirBnB, both of which have previously produced series such as the game show Lucky Lyft and the documentary Gay Chorus Deep South.

As of now, Chick-Fil-A has not released a public statement regarding this news. However, many netizens seem perplexed and somewhat frustrated by this unexpected turn of events.

One user referenced the popular TikTok trend and wrote, “Just put the fries in the bag, bro,”in response.

“Another individual stated that they were on the verge of returning to cable.”

Another person inquired, “Who requested a streaming platform for Chick-Fil-A, my friend?”as seen on this tweet.

Recently, many fast-food chains, including Mcdonald’s, have been making significant improvements in their offerings. For instance, Mcdonald’s has reintroduced its highly sought-after collectible cups, which are currently being sold for hundreds of dollars on various online platforms.
